The coast near the village is rocky but there are several sandy beaches here, most located in the quieter western part of Karsiyaka. Vasilia beach is a notable hatching ground for endangered turtles. in August and September tourists and locals, along with volunteers, come there to watch an amazing phenomenon - the birth of tiny turtles. If you wish, you can even participate in the turtles first adventure and help them find their way to the sea!
Karsiyaka is a picturesque village located 20km from the historical centre of Kyrenia, surrounded by lemon and olive groves.
The village has an ancient history, the first mention of it dates back to the middle of the thirteenth century.
Not far from Karsiyaka are the ruins of a monastery that was once the main religious building in the region. Now, only partially preserved walls and an engraving in the form of a double headed Byzantine eagle at the chapel entrance remain, a gentle reminder of times gone by.
